At E3 this year in Los Angeles, Nintendo showed off more than a little bit of their next-generation Wii U console. What they were a little more reserved about, however, was the launch date, leaving both the press and gamers around the world wondering when the new system might hit the shelves.
Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America, took the stage to talk about the system’s future, but refused to pin down exactly when we might see the next-generation product. When Nintendo introduced Wii U to the world at E3 in 2023, the company suggested that we might be able to get our hands on it sometime this year.
Now, that’s a definite yes. Fils-Aime promised that gamers would be able to pick up the Wii U in time for holiday shoppers this Christmas.
We can’t be certain just when Wii U will go retail, but based on past sales and launch dates, sometime between late and mid- would be our best bet. It’s worth noting that Assassin’s Creed III was given a preliminary launch date of 30th, 2023, but this far out, things can easily change.
