Rugged Notebooks Announces Eagle Series

Rugged Notebooks has announced its new Eagle series of rugged notebooks starting at $1,695. The notebook is designed for use in public safety, military, and other demanding work environments.

The Eagle series includes a biometrics and SmartCard reader for security, meeting FBI user-authentication guidelines. It also features Absolute Computrace in the BIOS; this allows the rugged notebook to be tracked and remotely managed; all data can be removed from the notebook remotely if necessary.

The Eagle series meets U.S. military 810F and 810G standards, a rubber Guard Protection System to protect the display, a lock on the DVD drive, a sealed touchpad, and attached port covers to protect against dust and moisture. The 5.5 pound notebook has a 14.1-inch display, Intel Core 2 Duo processor up to 2.8GHz, HDMI port, and up to 8GB of RAM. Available options include a touch screen, a proprietary transflective sunlight display, Gigabit LAN, dual hard drives with RAID 0/1, 3G, GPS, and Windows XP or 7.
